The last half of May

May was a busy month in this household as we had three more sets of visitors and a weekend in Niceville/Destin area.  We loved having our visitors and look forward to the few more we have in the month of June.  The time is going fast here and if the weather holds and Andrew gets through his flights, we could potentially be out of this part of the country by the second week of July.  Even though we are loving our time here, I am ready to be back home and have a set, daily routine with Weston (it's hard to set one here when we know that we will have to shift his schedule by two hours in a month or so).  He's still doing great and sleeps anywhere and everywhere (awesome, we know!) and just continues to smile and make Andrew and I think we are the funniest parents in the world.  Here, in photo story form, is the lowdown of what's been happening the last two weeks.
Andrew was in charge of Weston here--looks like he and KJ fell asleep on the job but Weston was doing just fine, I would say.

This was a sweet moment between a boy and his dog--actually, it was the first time Weston grabbed a piece of KJ and she was great with him!

Mom arrived and we went out to dinner on the water so she didn't have to wait too long to be near the Gulf air!

Luckily for all of us, my friend Karen (from preschool) came over from Mobile and spent the weekend with us--it was so much fun to catch up and see her baby bump (it's a small one) holding Katie who will be arriving in August.

Weston got a special toy--a Johnny Jump Up-- and is getting more and more used to it every day.

We celebrated my 31st birthday during my mom's visit and she and Andrew made me my own Key Lime pie--my favorite!

Here's Weston showing off his new bubble making skills--each day those bubbles get better!
A great collage that my mom put together of some of our adventures in Niceville at the Senechals' house--not a bad place to hang out!

Weston got to meet the Rennas and Miss Vivian who loved on him a lot--she's a day shy of two years older than Weston so if he's ever into cougars, maybe she will be available?  Hmmm.....

Weston learned the art of tending bar while hanging with the Rennas....those Rennas have the best tricks!  :)

A serious looking Weston--this is when he was telling us that he would really like to live on this body of water someday, his pitch was really quite impressive.

In case you were worried about KJ having fun, she and Abby had a great Memorial Day weekend of wrestling!

We also had a wonderful visit with Miss Alice who happened to be in town from DC--Weston was a lucky man to be photographed with these two Turner gals!

Just grinning during tummy time--maybe looking a bit more like Andrew here?

Showing off his new skills of rocking the big boy seat in the BOB--great head control but still working on the sitting thing on his own.

KJ wanting to play with Weston but not understanding that he's not quite ready to leave the blanket yet.

4 Month Old Stats and Pictures

Today we had Weston's 4 month old check up and he is doing great!  He's weighing in at a great weight of 12.4 lbs and measuring 24 inches.  With numbers like those, he's actually ON the normal baby growth chart (before this he was not even on the chart, thus being marked down as 0%).  They still measure him on the preemie chart and he's rocking that and maybe in a few months, he won't even be measured on that because he will be OFF that chart!  :)
For the preemie chart:
45% for weight
71% for height (hoping some tall Turner genes are coming through here)
54% for head circumference (no more toaster head!)
For the "normal" growth chart (those born full term at the same time Weston was born):
6% for weight
9% for height
16% for head circumference (big brain space, right?)
Interestingly enough, my dad found my record of growth the other day and gave it to me so it's sort of fun to compare Weston's growth to mine--he's almost caught up to me and I was 2 weeks late when I was born.  We will have to see if we can find Andrew's and do some more comparison.  For now, here's a photo of my growth.  It will be a proud moment when Weston can overcome my stats!
You can see that Weston is only half an inch behind me in height when I was four months old and only 7 ounces lighter.

We are proud of our little guy for growing and will continue to feed him so he can grow some more!  :)

Here are some photos from the last week that are a bit random, but show the cuteness that we are getting to enjoy.  Hope you do too!

My Mother's Day dates--wouldn't have had it any different.

Weston and I enjoying the sunset on the beach after Mother's Day dinner.

A little tubby time--notice the ultra relaxed arms while he gets sponged down--this kid has the life!

A new game we are playing where he sits on my shins.   He loves zooming around and I get a little ab workout!

Not so sure about this position but thought the picture showed off a strong resemblance in the hair--at least for the moment, I am pretty sure that Weston will have more sooner than Andrew.  :)

Happy guys!

This is a very pitiful face but so funny to Andrew and I.  It's hard not to laugh when he gives this look--yes, we are mean but it will make him stronger, right?

We have a 4 Month Old in the House!

Wasn't Weston just turning 3 months old the other day?  It seems like it--okay, that mostly may be because we have had a BUSY last month of driving across country, enjoying a new lifestyle at the beach, and introducing Weston to lots of loved ones here in this part of the country.
We haven't had his 4 month appointment so we don't have official stats (I will be sure to share those when we do), but for now this is what we can tell you about 4-month-old Weston:
He has gained weight and is easily over 12 lbs (I am guessing 13 or more).
He is longer than two sheets of computer paper lengthwise (it's our only source of measurements right now--Andrew is guessing about 24.5 inches).
He is working those 3-6 month clothes like a champ.
He is the happiest baby now--formula is our saving grace--and smiles at anything, especially when Andrew and I dance for him with big Elaine-from-Seinfeld-type movements.
He is sleeping from 8 until 6:30/7 in the morning.
He is grabbing onto objects--my hair included.
He babbles and drools like a caveman.
He likes airplane rides on my knees.
He has started to pay attention to KJ and her craziness.
He has started to watch the flashing movements on the tv so dad's ESPN gets turned off more than he would like.
He curls his toes like his momma.
He likes to face out when he's being carried.

Welcoming 4 months in with a smile on my face in an awesome tie-dyed onesie!

Mom, I thought this was my photo shoot , not KJ's.

Happy baby! Check out my triple Ts, Great Uncle Jeff!

Working my tongue.

Woo, these photo shoots are exhausting.

Back awake and curling my toes just like momma!

Visitors: Papaw Haynes and Great Aunt Barbara

We had our first visitors at the little beach house and we were so happy to show them around.  Weston's Papaw and Great Aunt Barbara came for two nights on their journey which made a loop from my dad's hometown of Washington, Indiana, thru Savannah, GA, to North Port, FL and then here as the last stop before returning to Indiana.  My dad and aunt seemed to travel pretty well together and weren't arguing like brother and sister too much when they arrived here.  :)
Here are some pictures of their stop with us--we so enjoyed having them.  From our time with them, I am now hoping that I share a lot of "aging" genes with my Aunt Barbara because as she nears her 80th birthday, she's still acting like a teenager crawling all over the floor with Weston, sporting some short shorts (and lookin' good) and knocking back a few cold ones! :)  Heck, I would be happy to have two out of the three of those!
Great Aunt Barbara waited about three minutes after she arrived to get snuggles in with Weston--I don't even think Papaw got to snuggle first!  :)  (Valerie--I have a feeling that William Thomas' great-grandmother will be throwing elbows to get her hands on him when he arrives!)

Weston entertaining the visitors--he's at such a great stage now where he makes eye contact and smiles at EVERYTHING.

Aunt Barbara wanted to hang back at the house with Weston so the rest of us took KJ down to the beach and she swam out with the boys.

KJ gettin' some loving from Papaw.

Making faces at each other.

Lunch at the only beachside restaurant in town--Aunt Barbara got a kick out of the menu because if you were over 65 then you could eat off the kids' menu as well!

Tummy time for Weston and Great Aunt Barbara.

Making faces and Weston being totally intrigued.

KJ getting in on the action--she has just a tad bit of jealousy!

Happy to be surrounded by my dad and aunt.

It was a gorgeous night to yacht shop in Port St. Joe--okay, we were actually showing Weston the lifestyle that we expect him to give us one day!  Haha!

Enjoying being close...

One of the biggest perks to Weston and I tagging along on this TDY with Andrew is that we are so close to family and friends.  There probably isn't a better location for us to visit and show Weston off while enjoying the beautiful water and sand!
In the past week and a half, we have kept ourselves busy by visiting with Nonny as well as Nan and Dick with the dogs, the Senechals which of course means Crazy Auntie Sara, the Chalkers and catching up with friends from our past at Eglin.  While Andrew is busy stuffing information into his head about his new plane, Weston and I enjoy walks on the beach while KJ frolicks in the Gulf of Mexico and then rolls in the sand, hanging with friends at the pool, running errands and just living the easy life!
Weston has made life much more enjoyable for Andrew and I as he has decided that sleeping through the night is definitely the way to go!  He is pulling the 8:30 p.m. shift to 6:30 a.m. shift like a champ and we can't thank him enough!
In the coming weeks, we have lots of visitors coming to hang and we can't wait!  We aren't sure whether they are coming just for Weston though now that we are beachside!  :)
Enjoy the photos detailing our recent happenings!
Here's Weston hanging out at Nan and Dick's two Fridays ago with Abby (Nan and Dick's dog, back by the fence), Maggie Belle (Nonny's dog closely guarding Weston) and of course KJ.  All four played gloriously together!
Two Saturdays ago we made an afternoon with Auntie Sara out of lunch and hanging out on the Harbor in Destin.  Here's Andrew and Weston--not a bad view behind them.

Auntie Sara and I also enjoying a great view.  Lucky for me, we had a former student of mine for our server and I am pretty sure that I had given her a good grade a few years back so our food had no spit in it!  :)

Auntie Sara and I were in charge of the sunscreen.  Andrew wanted to capture this for Weston in the future.  Okay, we rubbed it in, but it sure was goopy!

Saturday evening we headed to my second home along with my second mom and sister, the Chalkers.  Here's Beth introducing Weston to Toby.

Here's Rebecca holding a sleepy Weston--I remember holding Becca-Bug when she was this itty-bitty--of course that was almost 22 years ago!  :)

I love my Chalker Girls!

On Sunday the Senechals had to twist Andrew's arm to go skiing (Ha!) so he decided to show KJ how it was done!  It was obviously KJ's first time on the boat and she loved it.  Took guarding anyone behind the boat very seriously!  We need to teach her to bark for speed and/or falls.

While KJ guarded the back of the boat, Auntie Sara was in charge of Weston who slept like this the entire hour and half or two that we were on the boat!

Sara did show us her skills too!
Sara also loved on KJ as she donned the doggy life jacket--we mostly used it to cool her off but we are thinking she might take a liking to it and enjoy some Crab Island time!  :)

As soon as we got off the boat, Weston was immediately wiped out and chose to nap on this dog hammock--it kept him off the ground!  Dual purpose.

While we were staying at the Senechals, KJ learned how to swim in the bayou and then transferred that to the Gulf of Mexico and looks forward to weekly swims as long as we are willing to bathe her afterwards!

Weston also got the chance to be held by Mr. Nuke at a bar -- isn't it nice that babies can go to bars?  It's really going to put a cramp in our lifestyle when Weston can no longer go to bars!  :)

Just a random picture we took of KJ making herself comfortable.  She will sit like this for minutes before thinking about moving--weirdo.

Our little beach set up for Weston--works out quite well and only a little difficult when the wind is blowing!  :)

Weston enjoying some beverage on the beach.

Weston taking his first dip in the Gulf of Mexico--the first of many throughout his lifetime I am sure.
The dip in the Gulf just made him more relaxed.

Finally, had to share this photo with a shout out to our Oki peeps and all the fun Engrish shirts--this one says "We are going to a far off town by car."  If only Weston could have worn this at the start of our roadtrip--maybe it will fit on the way back!
